Indo-Canadian pop-rap star Amritpal Singh, better known as AP Dhillon, dropped his new single “Thodi Si Daaru” last month with singer Shreya Ghoshal.

The track has a simple, almost nursery rhyme-like chorus — “Thodi si daaru mere andar aa gai” — that’s catchy but also divisive. Many listeners say it sticks in your head, while others find it annoying.

“The beat has the perfect summer party vibe, but the lyrics feel made for memes more than music,” DJ Kamal Mustafa told The Express Tribune. “It’s fun, but also over-the-top. People dance to it, but they also laugh at it.”

This mixed reaction is visible in Pakistan too. Some fans keep the song on repeat, while others dismiss it as cringe-worthy.

DJ Kamal, who has produced 18 albums in India and Pakistan, added, “Maybe that’s the smart part. In today’s music world, a song that gets people talking is already a hit. Call it a summer banger or a social media stunt—either way, AP Dhillon got what he wanted. We’re all talking about it
