In Sangrur, Punjab, teachers demonstrated vigorously outside the house of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over their pending demands. The teachers have accused the government of promise. He said that he has only received assurances from the Aam Aadmi Party government, no concrete action has been taken.

When the protesting teachers moved towards his residence to meet the Chief Minister on Sunday, the police stopped him, causing mild tension and shocked on the spot. The teachers expressed displeasure that they wanted to make their point only peacefully to the Chief Minister.

The main demand of teachers is that they too should be regularized like other government teachers and should be given permanent appointment. He said that when the Aam Aadmi Party came to power, he hoped that the issue pending for years would be resolved, but the government has not taken any concrete steps so far.

A teacher said in a conversation with news agency IANS that it has been more than two and a half years since the Aam Aadmi Party government came to power, but our situation remains the same. The teacher alleged that the claims of the ‘Shiksha Kranti’ of the Aam Aadmi Party are absolutely false. He has only frauded the education sector. The teacher said that neither the Education Minister nor the Chief Minister, is not listening to anything.

A female teacher protesting said that when there is no hearing at any level, a person is forced. For years we have been raising our demand. Has met several times with the Education Minister. The Chief Minister is the president of the state schools. According to the rules, they have to hold a meeting with the teachers, but not a single meeting was held.

He said that the government says that doors are open to the public, but we have no hearing. We will not go from here without meeting the Chief Minister.
