The Bengal Warriorz are gearing up for a significant turnaround in the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League 2025 (PKL 2025) after facing challenges in previous seasons.
Having not advanced past the league stage for four consecutive seasons, the team is eager to improve in this 12th edition of the league. Their inability to reach the playoffs last season resulted in the dismissal of head coach Prashant Surve.
The decision to part ways with Surve came after the team finished in 10th place among 12 teams, winning only five out of 22 matches, making them one of the least successful teams last season. For the new season, Naveen Kumar has been appointed as the head coach, and the team is hopeful for a more successful campaign.
In light of their recent struggles, the Bengal Warriorz have opted for a complete squad overhaul this season. They have strengthened their raiding lineup by acquiring players like Devank Dalal, Omid Khojasteh Mohammadshah, Sushil Kambrekar, Vishwas S, Manprit, Punit Kumar, and Rachit Kumar.
Additionally, they have re-signed Korean raider Jang Kun Lee and added Himanshu to their roster. On the defensive side, they utilized their Final Bid Match (FBM) options during the auction to retain key defenders Nitesh Kumar and Mayur Jagannath Kadam.
The Bengal Warriorz will kick off their PKL 2025 journey on August 31, facing the Haryana Steelers in their opening match in Vizag. They will play four matches during the Vizag leg before heading to Jaipur for another four games, followed by five matches in Chennai, and concluding with five games in Delhi.
