Like many animal lovers, Raveena Tandon , too, is happy that Supreme Court has modified its earlier suo motu directive that called for permanent relocation of stray dogs across NCR. Taking to social media, she wrote, “Dogesh bhai! Tum aage badho! Hum tumhare saath hain! Better sense has prevailed. Thank you #cji #supremecourt. Now make sure the programmes and funds allocated for vaccinations and sterilisation are implemented correctly.”
Raveena, a long-time advocate for animal welfare, feels the real crisis is the erosion of empathy. Talking to us, she said, “Compassion is fading from our society and we need that now more than ever. Feeding strays is also good, but sterilisation is even more important. People should donate towards sterilisation programs instead of just feeding.”
The actress also highlights the need to understand the root cause of aggression among stray dogs. She said, “Stray dogs form packs when there is garbage around. This can lead to aggression not because they are dangerous, but because we fail to manage the environment responsibly. There needs to be more awareness, stricter laws, and better implementation to protect these voiceless beings.”
In her household, animals are not just pets but integral members of the family. Raveena said, “They are the heartbeat of our home.” She describes how every day begins with her husband Anil Thadani’s special ritual. “Every morning, my husband Anil sits with his tea and feeds biscuits to our dogs one by one. The house is full, chaotic, and yet calming. They are our stress busters,” she shares.
Her children, too, have inherited this compassion, actively participating in animal welfare initiatives. “They bring home kittens and pups all the time. Honestly, animals bring a kind of emotional grounding nothing else can,” said the actress.
