Raj Yadav comes from a small village in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Raj grew up in poverty. His father was a landless farmer who also ran a small tea stall and worked as a daily wage laborer in fields to support the family. Raj often helped his father with this work. From this childhood age he saw the struggles of farmers like declining soil fertility and the inability to get fair prices for their produce.
However his life took a turn after he topped his 10th-grade exams. The appreciation he received from his family and villagers inspired him to dream big. He focused on studies and went on to complete a B.Tech in Computer Science. He became the first software engineer from his village.
First Job For Just Rs 3000
After completing his studies Raj moved to Delhi in search of better opportunities. He got first job in a small IT company for salary of only Rs 3000. He used to live in a small rented room. But after his hard work within months his salary tripled. After gaining experience at several companies Raj decided to start his own venture.
Founding 18 Pixels And Gramik
In 2012 at the age of 27 he founded 18 Pixels in Lucknow with the vision of creating employment opportunities for the youth of Uttar Pradesh within their home state. But his biggest breakthrough came in 2021 when he founded Gramik a company that provides farmers with agricultural products equipment and advisory services. Today Gramik generates revenues of over Rs 100 crore.
The idea came to his mind during the COVID-19 lockdown when he was living in his village. One day his illiterate father managed to order a grass cutter online through a smartphone. That became Raj’s “Eureka moment.” He realized that if his father could do this other farmers could also follow him.
