Remember the Tata Sierra? For many of us, it was an iconic SUV with a design that was way ahead of its time. Well, get ready for a dose of nostalgia, because Tata is bringing the Sierra back, and this time, it’s electric.
The new 2025 Tata Sierra EV is expected to make its debut around the festive season, likely in October or November 2025. And from what we know so far, it’s going to be a pretty interesting addition to the electric vehicle market.
One of the best parts is that Tata seems to be sticking close to the concept version we’ve seen, which is great news. The design has that retro vibe we loved about the original, but with a modern, futuristic twist. Think clean lines, LED lighting strips at the front and back, and that unmistakable large glass area that made the original so unique.
Inside, it looks like Tata is going all out. We’re hearing about a floating triple-screen setup on the dashboard, which sounds very premium. They might also offer two different seating arrangements: a standard 5-seater and a more luxurious 4-seater with a lounge-like feel. To top it off, features like a panoramic sunroof and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) are also expected, at least on the higher-end models.
Under the hood, the Sierra EV is likely to share its battery options with the Harrier EV.That means we could see 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs, which might offer a range of somewhere around 500 to 600 kilometers on a single charge. There’s also talk of an all-wheel-drive option, which would make it a capable SUV for various conditions.
While the initial launch will be all-electric, Tata is planning to release a petrol-powered version of the Sierra in early 2026.
As for the price, the Tata Sierra EV is expected to start at around ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s positioned to be a unique offering in the market with not many direct competitors.
The return of the Sierra nameplate is exciting, and it looks like Tata is putting in the effort to make it a worthy successor. It will be interesting to see how it performs on the road when it finally launches.
