Protests in Patna Over Children's Death

On Monday evening, a series of violent protests took place at Atal Path in Patna. Demonstrators were expressing their outrage over the tragic incident on August 15, where two children were discovered deceased inside a parked vehicle in the Indrapuri locality of Patna. In response to the unrest, police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were dispatched to the scene.

According to Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma, several officers suffered injuries from stone-throwing and glass shards during the protests and were subsequently taken to the hospital for medical care. A number of individuals have been detained for questioning, and further actions will be based on video evidence. The SSP noted, 'The medical report is available, but it does not confirm murder. Additional examinations have been advised, and no one can be held without conclusive evidence.'

The unrest began on August 22, following the discovery of the bodies of two children who had been reported missing since August 15. In light of the protests, an FIR has been lodged against the demonstrators for not obtaining prior permission, as stated by Central Superintendent of Police Diksha.

Protesters obstructed the road and set tires ablaze during the demonstrations.

In the aftermath of the protests, SP Diksha remarked that the demonstrators had gathered at Atal Path due to suspicions surrounding certain individuals in the case. The police had not been informed in advance about the gathering. 'Today, under the jurisdiction of PS Pataliputra, a blockade was created by some individuals on Atal Path. They expressed their suspicions regarding the murder of two children a few days ago. They approached the road with their grievances but failed to notify the police beforehand,' SP Diksha explained.

The police managed to clear the roadblock after engaging in dialogue with the protesters. The SP added, 'The blockade was resolved, and the police communicated with the protesters. An FIR will be filed against all participants in this unlawful demonstration.'
