Street Fighter fans are buzzing after new behind-the-scenes photos revealed the first official look at Orville Peck as Vega. The image surfaced in actress Callina Liang’s Instagram Story, which was reshared by Peck.
The South African musician Orville Peck showcased Vega’s blonde hair and snake tattoo in a new BTS look. Viewers remain unsure if the mask shown will appear in the final cut. The franchise introduced Vega in 1991’s Street Fighter II as one of the four bosses. The film portrays him as a “Spanish Ninja” who serves Shadaloo leader M. Bison, played by David Dastmalchian.
The new set images show Noah Centineo fully suited as Ken Masters. Since the franchise began, Ken and Ryu have led the series as core fighters. Both characters perform the Dragon Punch and Hadoken fireball moves. Andrew Koji plays Ryu, while Callina Liang portrays Chun-Li and Andrew Schulz Plays and Hibiki.
WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes takes on the role of Guile. A silhouetted image earlier teased his video game-accurate look. Reports state that Jason Momoa will portray Blanka. Roman Reigns plays Akuma, the fighter who killed Ryu and Ken’s trainer Gouken.
Capcom’s Street Fighter remains one of the most popular fighting game series. However, live-action adaptations have struggled. The 1994 film with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Kylie Minogue gained cult status despite criticism. In contrast, 2009’s Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li received poor reviews and box office results.
Director Kitao Sakurai now leads the reboot after replacing Danny and Michael Philippou. Sakurai wrote, directed, and produced The Eric Andre Show. He also directed episodes of Amazon Prime’s upcoming Butterfly and Peacock’s Twisted Metal.
While details on the storyline remain scarce, these behind-the-scenes glimpses provide the first look at the ensemble cast in action.
