Turkish transport minister Fined: Turkish Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu was fined 9,267 Lira ($ 280) after posting a video of driving 225 km/h on the Ankara highway. This speed is almost double the legal limit. According to reports, on Sunday, Uraloglu shared a clip of his car on the Ankara-Nigde highway. In the video, with the excerpts from the speech given by folk music and President Rechpe Tayyip Erdoan praising the infrastructure of the government, the speed of the minister’s speed of the car was seen increasing, while his car was overtaking others in fast lane.
The video went viral quickly and outrage spread among the people. After sharp criticism on social media, Uraloglu apologized to the public, and underlined the concerns about road safety in Türkiye
Uraloglu posted a statement on X, as well as a picture of the traffic invoice he got. In the post, he admitted that he unknowingly crossed the speed limit for some time, and apologized to the country for his mistake.
The minister further said, “It is mandatory for everyone to follow the speed limit. The necessary penalty has been imposed by our highway Gendermori. I want to inform the public that I will be more careful than now.”
