iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max to have a new charging upgrade?

According to Hindustan Times, Weibo leaker claimed that the upcoming Pro models could offer reverse wireless charging, allowing the iPhone to charge other Apple accessories like AirPods and Apple Watch. If it turns out to be true, this could be a major charging upgrade for iPhone users.

A Fixed Focus Digital post on Weibo has made a huge claim that the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to offer reverse wireless charging. Apple is reportedly experimenting with the technology for its premium smartphones, but it’s still unclear whether the upgrade will debut with the iPhone 17 lineup or appear in future models.

This isn’t the first time such rumours about Apple's charging system have surfaced. Earlier leaks from Instant Digital also suggested that Apple has been testing 7.5W reverse wireless charging for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. If the reports turn out to be true, the Pro models could wirelessly charge other Apple accessories on the go, including AirPods and the Apple Watch.

This won't be just a major upgrade but will also be quite quick and easy for users with a diverse Apple ecosystem to charge their crucial devices when its running out of battery. It is pertinent to note that several Android phones have been offering reverse charging. But it would be for the first time for Apple users if the tech giant releases a new charging upgrade with the iPhone 17 series model.

The iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to bring a wave of exciting upgrades that could tempt many users to switch. Along with a fresh design and the powerful A19 Pro chip, Apple is expected to deliver a completely new experience. Reports also point to a revamped telephoto lens, an improved selfie camera, a larger battery, advanced vapor cooling, and several other enhancements.

iPhone 17 and 17 Pro: Launch date in US

The iPhone 17 series is expected to be the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and an all-new super-slim model, possibly called iPhone 17 Air. Apple likes to make a splash with its announcement that a special event is coming. If it sticks to the same timetable as previous years, Aug. 26 will be the day, two weeks before the keynote.

Leaks suggest that the Apple iPhone 17 Pro will hit the US market at $1,199 in USA for a 12GB RAM with 128GB storage variant. Once the keynote has revealed all the secrets for the new iPhones, from the names to the specs to the prices, the next date is when pre-orders will open. The software that will power the new iPhones, and all models right back to the iPhone 11, will go on general release this day or, possibly, Tuesday, September 16.
