Google has clarified that this facility will start from August 28, but it will not be available for Indian users currently. The satellite service in India has not yet started completely. BSNL has recently taken initiative in this direction, indicating on social media that in the coming time, satellite connectivity will be activated in the country as well. In such a situation, this feature will be available for Indian users only when telecom companies will prepare the necessary structure.
Google has not yet clarified how this feature will work technically. Satellite connectivity is commonly used in smartphones that are made to suit it. Till now the use of this technology was limited to only audio calling and sending SMS in most countries. But this step of Google shows that now video and audio calls on popular applications like WhatsApp will be possible through satellite network.
