Teacher Arrested for Allegedly Contaminating School Food in Chhattisgarh

Incident in Sukma District

In a shocking incident in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, a teacher was taken into custody on Wednesday for allegedly mixing phenyl into the food served to students at a government residential school. This information was confirmed by local police.


According to a police official, the accused, identified as Dhananjay Sahu, was arrested following a complaint lodged by the hostel superintendent, Dujal Patel. Sahu serves as an assistant teacher at the Porta Cabin School located in Pakela village.


The complaint, filed on Tuesday, stated that on August 21, Sahu allegedly added phenyl to the vegetable dish prepared for the students' dinner due to personal disputes with Patel. A staff member at the Porta Cabin noticed a foul smell emanating from the food and spotted empty phenyl bottles nearby, prompting him to alert Patel. Consequently, the contaminated food was disposed of safely.


The official noted that Patel informed senior authorities about the incident, leading the district magistrate of Sukma to order an investigation. The inquiry revealed Sahu's alleged involvement.


Based on the investigation report, Patel filed a complaint at the Chhindgarh police station, resulting in Sahu's arrest. During questioning, Sahu admitted to the police that he committed the act due to personal grievances with Patel.


Sahu, a resident of Patora village in Durg district, has been charged under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
