Kieron Pollard has long been one of the biggest names in T20 cricket. Known for his explosive hitting, calm finishing and ability to turn matches with both bat and ball, the former West Indies captain has thrilled fans across leagues for nearly two decades. On Saturday, he added another glorious chapter to his career by entering the record books few have touched.

The 38 years old all-rounder became only the second cricketer in the history to score 14,000 runs in T20s. Heading into Trinbago Knight Riders’ match against Barbados Royals in the Caribbean Premier League 2025, Kieron Pollard needed 19 runs to reach the milestone. He got exactly that, staying unbeaten on 19 from just nine deliveries at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.

In doing so, Kieron Pollard joined legendary Chris Gayle who still leads the all-time list with 14,562 runs in 463 matches. Pollard now stands on 14,000 runs in 712 matches. His tally includes one century and 64 fifties in the shortest format of the game.

Kieron Pollard has had a glittering T20 career across the globe. For West Indies, he scored 1569 runs in 101 T20 internationals. In the Indian Premier League, representing Mumbai Indians, he piled up 3412 runs in 189 games and played a crucial role in the franchise’s multiple title wins.

In the Caribbean Premier League, where he has been a consistent performer for years, Kieron Pollard has scored 2955 runs in 130 matches. Across his journey, from 2006 to 2025, he has represented 19 different teams in T20 cricket, making him one of the most travelled and experienced players in the format. His contributions with the ball are also remarkable, with 332 wickets to his name, making him a true all-rounder in every sense.

On Saturday, Kieron Pollard’s short innings featured two fours and one six. That six, which came off the third ball of the 17th over of the run chase, was more than just a milestone hit, it also gave him the record for most sixes in the history of the Caribbean Premier League.

The night belonged not just to Kieron Pollard’s achievement but also to Trinbago Knight Riders’ convincing victory. Chasing a target of 179, they crossed the line in just 17.5 overs to win by seven wickets. Colin Munro led the way with a quickfire 67 off 44 balls, striking four fours and four sixes. Nicholas Pooran provided the finishing touch, smashing an unbeaten 65 from 40 deliveries with one four and six sixes, ensuring TKR cruised to victory alongside their skipper’s historic achievement.

For Kieron Pollard, already the most capped player in the T20 history, this milestone further cements his reputation as one of the greatest legends of the format. From Mumbai to Tarouba, from West Indies maroon to franchise colors, his consistency, longevity and sheer impact continue to inspire the next generation of cricketers around the world.
