Dharamshala — The Himachal Pradesh government has announced the establishment of a new Patwar Circle in Jhiyol, increasing the total number of revenue circles in the Dharamshala tehsil to 24. This decision addresses the persistent requests from numerous residents in the Dharamshala and Shahpur assembly areas.
The new circle was formed by restructuring the existing Ghiyana Kalan Patwar Circle, which had become too extensive to effectively cater to the local populace. This change is anticipated to greatly improve access to revenue services for rural residents.
The initiative was initially proposed by Chaudhary Harbhajan Singh, a former Zila Parishad member and senior Congress figure, who presented the matter to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu with the assistance of former Dharamshala Mayor and Congress candidate Devendra Jaggi. Following the notification, the region has experienced a surge of relief and celebration.
Harbhajan Singh commented on the development, stating, “The Ghiyana Kalan Circle had become too large, complicating the process for residents. The Chief Minister has acknowledged public concerns and provided significant relief.”
The newly established Patwar Circle will include a Patwari and an additional support staff member to ensure efficient operations. Singh expressed his appreciation to Chief Minister Sukhu, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, and Devendra Jaggi for their swift actions and support.
This expansion reflects the Revenue Department's ongoing commitment to improving service delivery, ensuring that administrative reforms yield real benefits for the community.
