A small grocery shopkeeper living in Khurja in Bulandshahr district suffered a major setback when the Income Tax Department handed over the notice claiming more than Rs 141 crore in his name. The shopkeeper alleges that six fake companies were formed in Delhi after misusing his PAN card and this transaction was shown through them.

Sudhir runs an ordinary grocery store

Sudhir, a resident of Nayaganj area of Khurja, runs a simple grocery store from his house. He said that for the first time he received a notice from the Income Tax Department in 2022. At that time, he made it clear to the officials that they have nothing to do with the companies which have been mentioned in the notice.

Sudhir further said that the matter did not end here. On 10 July 2025, he received a re -notice, claiming that companies registered in his name sold Rs 1,41,38,47,126. On this, he expressed doubt that someone has used their PAN card to establish companies with frauds and transactions on a large scale.

Police registered a case

After the complaint was registered, Khurja police station in -charge Pankaj Rai confirmed that a case has been registered and the police is engaged in investigation. Officials say that this PAN card is a case of fraud. In such a fraud, criminals misuse the PAN details of another person and open fake companies, make bank accounts, take loans or carry out tax evasion.

According to experts, the victims usually find out such fraud when they get a sudden notice from the Income Tax Department or calls from banks and recovery agencies. Cyber and financial experts recommend regularly monitor the credit report to prevent such cases and link PAN card to Aadhaar. This reduces the possibility of fraud and can get an alert immediately on suspicious activities.

This case of Sudhir exposes the increasing danger of PAN card fraud, which can also affect common people. Now from the investigation of the police and tax department, it will be clear which gang is active behind misusing their PAN card.
