The Aadhaar Card is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India. It is used as a digital identity proof for availing of a host of government subsidies and benefits. A small mistake in the users name on an Aadhaar Card can cause a lot of problems. Occasionally a spelling mistake prevents people from accessing government programs or causes issues with banking and education services. So it is very important to have your correct name on your Aadhaar. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made the Aadhaar updating process more accessible. Now you do not need to visit an Aadhaar center for minor corrections. One can even correct the spelling of your name online from the comfort of your home. If your name is wrong on your Aadhaar card a number of processes can be delayed or stopped. This includes registering for government schemes availing banking services PAN-Aadhaar linking passport applications and school admissions for kids. So make sure that your name on your Aadhaar card is correct. For example if the spelling of your name is different on your Aadhaar and a bank account your transactions may be blocked or delayed. To start visit the official UIDAI website: uidai.gov.in. Log in with your registered mobile number and an OTP will then be sent to that mobile number. After entering your OTP you will be able to start the Aadhaar update process. Select the Information to Update Choose “Name” (or any other field you want to correct). Enter Correct Details Carefully type the correct spelling of your name. Upload Supporting Documents Upload scanned copies of valid identity proof that reflect the correct name. Review the Information Double-check all entries to ensure there are no mistakes. Submit the Request Once verified submit your update request. Note the Update Request Number (URN) You will receive a URN to track the status of your Aadhaar update.
