A catastrophic landslide occurred in the Jangambagh area of Sundernagar late Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of six individuals, with one person still unaccounted for. Rescue teams tirelessly worked overnight to recover the bodies from the rubble of two homes that were entirely engulfed by the landslide.

Officials reported that five of the deceased were occupants of the collapsed houses, while the sixth victim was a scooter rider who happened to be in the vicinity when the landslide struck. During the rescue efforts, remnants of the scooter and another vehicle were discovered, leading authorities to persist in their search for the individual believed to have been inside the vehicle during the incident.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Sundernagar has confirmed that all necessary resources are being utilized to find the missing person and assist the grieving families. The SDM remarked, “Our teams are working tirelessly despite the adverse weather conditions and difficult terrain.”

This tragic event has raised significant alarm in the surrounding area, prompting the evacuation of nearby residences as a safety measure. Ongoing rainfall and unstable slopes have increased concerns about potential additional landslides.
