Prime Video has finally revealed who will play the legendary Lara Croft in their upcoming Tomb Raider series.
The highly-anticipated Prime Video show, created by Killing Eve and Fleabag mastermind Phoebe Waller-Bridge, is starting production on January 19. 2026.
It has been announced that Sophie Turner, best known for playing Sansa Stark in all eight seasons of epic fantasy show Game of Thrones, will portray famous heroine Lara Croft.
Sophie became a fan favourite on the Sky and HBO show, earning an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in 2019.
She said of her upcoming role: "I am thrilled beyond measure, to be playing Lara Croft. She's such an iconic character, who means so much to so many - and I am giving everything I've got.
"They're massive shoes to fill, following in the steps of Angelina and Alicia with their powerhouse performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands. I can't wait for you all to see what we have cooking."
Phoebe added: "I'm so excited to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara alongside this phenomenal creative team.
"It's not very often you get to make a show of this scale with a character you grew up loving.
"Everyone on board is wildly passionate about Lara and are all as outrageous, brave, and hilarious as she is. Get your artifacts out... Croft is coming..."
Tomb Raider the series is based on the iconic Tomb Raider video game franchise, which follows the adventures of world-famous archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft.
Previous actresses to take on the live action role include Angelina Jolie, who starred in 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and its sequel and Alicia Vikander, who appeared in 2018's Tomb Raider.

Phoebe will serve as showrunner on the series, which is produced by Story Kitchen, Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios.
Jonathan Van Tulleken, whose credits include Shogun and Top Boy, joins as director and executive producer and Chad Hodge joins as co-showrunner and executive producer.
The official IMDb synopsis for Tomb Raider reads: "Armed with only the raw instincts and physical ability, experience Lara Croft's intense origin story from a young woman to a hardened survivor."
Tomb Raider is coming to Prime Video, with a release date yet to be announced.
