Renault India on Saturday announced that it will reduce prices of its cars by up to ₹96,395, passing on the full benefit of the recent GST rate cut to customers.

The new pricing will be effective on all deliveries starting September 22, 2025, the first day of Navratri, though bookings at revised prices have already opened at dealerships across the country, the company said in a statement.

"Passing on the full GST 2.0 benefit is a reflection of our unwavering commitment to our customers. We believe this timely initiative will not only make our cars more accessible but also energise demand during the festive season," Renault India MD Venkatram Mamillapalle said.

The GST Council had earlier this week cut slabs to 5 per cent and 18 per cent, lowering the tax burden on smaller cars and two-wheelers.

Note: Calculations subtract the maximum announced GST-driven reduction (₹55,095 for Kwid; ₹80,195 for Triber; ₹96,395 for Kiger) from the highest current prices.

Renault said the move will improve the affordability of its refreshed product line-up and boost demand during the festive season.

Renault’s announcement comes a day after Tata Motors said it will cut passenger vehicle prices by ₹65,000 to ₹1.45 lakh from September 22. Both companies have aligned their pricing strategies to the new GST slabs, which lower taxes on small cars and two-wheelers, while bigger cars and motorcycles above 350 cc will face a higher 40 per cent levy.

Under the revised GST structure, small petrol, LPG and CNG cars under 1,200 cc and 4,000 mm length, and diesel cars under 1,500 cc and 4,000 mm length, now attract 18 per cent GST instead of 28 per cent.

Motorcycles up to 350 cc also fall under the 18 per cent slab while EVs continue at 5 per cent.
