The 38-year-old Serbian entered the semifinals in all four Grand Slams this season but was defeated at this stage each time losing three matches to either world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz 22 or world No. 1 Jannik Sinner 24. Its frustrating on the court when you are not able to keep up with that level physically but at the same time its something also expected i guess. It comes with time and with age said Djokovic. Carlos Alcaraz will face Jannik Sinner in the final Alcaraz will contest for the US Open title on Sunday against defending champion Jannik Sinner. President Donald Trump is also anticipated to be in attendance. Sinner will aim to become the first man to win back-to-back titles in New York since Roger Federer’s five straight triumphs from 2004 to 2008. Alcaraz continues to stay unbeaten in sets as he hunt for his sixth Grand Slam title and second at Flushing Meadows. His recent encounters with Sinner include a win at the French Open in June and a loss at Wimbledon in July.  He has reached the finals of the last eight tour-level events and has maintained an outstanding 44-2 record since April. Its something that Im working on just the consistency on the matches on the tournaments on the year in general. Just not having up-and-downs in (a) match. Probably Im just getting mature just getting to know myself much better what I need on off the court Alcaraz said. Its not easy playing against him to be honest. Im thinking about the legend; what he has achieved in his career. Its difficult not to think about it he added. Djokovic displayed signs of physical discomfort Djokovic’s quest for a record 25th Grand Slam title was once again shattered. He cites facing younger opponents in best-of-five set matches as part of the challenge stating I still want to play ... (a) full Grand Slam season next year. Lets see whether thats going to happen or not but ... Slams are Slams. They are just different from any other tournament. They are the pillars of our sport the most important tournaments we have. But I do fancy my chances a bit more in best-of-three. Sinner and Alcaraz have won the most recent major championships taking home nine of the last twelve titles and the last seven. The other three went to Djokovic who most recently won the US Open in 2023. Djokovic displayed signs of physical pain during the match struggling with his shots and receiving treatment for his neck while the crowd kept him motivated cheering him on with chants of No-le!. He briefly dominated the second set with a 3-0 lead. Alcaraz however bounced back quickly and won the following three games. Today Id say it wasnt the best level of the tournament for me but I just kept a cool level (from) the beginning until the last point the Serb added. Alcaraz wore a pink sleeveless shirt showing off his regrown hair after a recent buzz cut gone wrong with his brother. When questioned about keeping his new hairstyle if he wins on Sunday Alcaraz replied playfully Even better. You will see. ...Surprise Surprise.
