On Friday, a tragic road accident in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand resulted in the death of an auto driver, while nine others sustained injuries, according to police officials. The incident occurred near the Rajrappa police station on the Ramgarh-Bokaro main road when an auto-rickshaw, transporting devotees to a temple, collided with a pickup truck coming from the direction of Gola.
The deceased auto driver has been identified as 50-year-old Sajid Rai, a resident of Barkakana. Krishna Kumar, the officer in charge of Rajrappa police station, stated, "The auto-rickshaw heading to Rajrappa temple was struck by a pickup van from Gola, causing the auto to overturn."
He further mentioned, "The driver died on the spot. Among the injured, one passenger, Babita Devi (52), is in critical condition and has been referred to RIMS Ranchi for treatment." All the injured individuals are devotees from Patna and Bhagalpur in Bihar and have been admitted to Ramgarh Sadar Hospital. The officer also noted that the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene, while police have seized both vehicles.
