Rekha is surely one of the most versatile and iconic actors of Indian cinema. But few know about a hidden talent she carries with grace. And this is her remarkable mimicry skills. This lesser-known side of Rekha was brought to light by comedian and host Kapil Sharma . This happened during an episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show in 2024.
Sharma recalled a personal moment when he witnessed Rekha imitating voices and expressions. He said that Rekha did it with uncanny accuracy. “She can talk to you for five minutes, observe your voice and expressions, and then mimic you perfectly. She does it so well,” he revealed. Though Rekha has never performed this talent publicly, Kapil insisted it was something unforgettable.
Rekha recalls a cherished moment with Lata Mangeshkar
In the same episode, Rekha shared an emotional memory connected to the late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. The actress revealed that on one of Lata ji’s birthdays, she had openly expressed her admiration, saying she wished for a daughter like her in her next birth. To this, the iconic singer replied, “Why next birth? I am your daughter in this birth.” Rekha fondly remembered how Lata ji even addressed her as “Mamma” from that day onwards. “Her voice still echoes in my ears,” Rekha said, visibly touched as she recounted the memory.
Rekha's work front
On the work front, Rekha was last seen in the 2018 film 'MLA' which was directed by Manju Maurya and stars Md Minhaj, Sonal Monteiro, and Pratham in the lead. She also made a special appearance in the superhit 2018 film 'Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se'. The actress has yet to announce any new projects and the fans are eagerly waiting for the same.
