US President Donald Trump has created a stir worldwide by issuing a major executive order. Under this new order, from 8 August 2025, i.e. from Monday, countries will get great relief in tariffs, which will make agreements with the US on industrial exports. This step has been especially taken for goods that are not easily available in the US or whose production is low there. Let’s know the full story of this order!

Big things of order

This new order of Trump includes several important points, which can affect global trade. This order includes more than 45 categories, on which zero import duty (Zero Tarif) will now be applied. But this exemption will be available only to those countries who will make business agreements with the US and promise to reduce their fees in return. This system is in line with the current agreements with countries such as Japan and the European Union. This rule will come into effect from 12:01 pm on Monday night.

What will be relief on what things?

According to the White House, this tariff discount will apply to goods that can neither be grown, mined nor produced in sufficient quantity. These include some special items, such as:

  • Natural graphite: Which is used in electric vehicles and batteries.
  • Nickel: Stainless steel and electric vehicle (EV) important part of batteries.
  • Pharmaceutical compound: Such as lidocaine, which is used in drugs.
  • Medical Testing Riazents: Chemicals used in medical examination.
  • Sleep: As powder, leaves and bullion.

What else changed?

Some more changes have also been made in this order. Some agricultural products, aircrafts and its parts, as well as non-presetted drugs have also been given tariff exemption. Once a country will make a business agreement with the US, American agencies such as USTR, Department of Commerce and Custom Officers will be able to decide to remove the tariff on these goods.
However, some old exemptions have also been eliminated in this order. For example, things such as plastic and polysilicon (which are essential for solar panels) will no longer be exempted.

Impact on global trade

Trump’s move can give a new shape to global business. This is a big opportunity for countries that are willing to compromise with the US. But challenges may increase for countries that have not yet made any compromise. This order will not only affect trade, but will also affect the global economy and mutual relations.
