Impact of Heavy Rains on Vehicle Stock

Residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) are facing significant challenges due to relentless rainfall. The situation extends beyond Delhi, affecting regions such as Haryana, Gurugram, and Bahadurgarh, where waterlogging has become a major issue. A notable incident involves a stockyard where numerous brand-new Maruti Suzuki vehicles have been left submerged in water, leading to potential severe damage.

These cars have been underwater for a week, with models including Alto, WagonR, Vitara, Brezza, and Invicto affected. In many instances, the water has risen to the level of the vehicles' bonnets.

The combination of heavy overnight rains and inadequate rainwater management has exacerbated the situation. Although modern vehicles are designed with waterproof wiring harnesses, extended exposure to water can still result in serious problems.

It is crucial for vehicle owners not to start their submerged cars until all water has been thoroughly removed. Igniting the engine prematurely can cause water to enter through the intakes, leading to irreversible damage. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that the vehicle is completely dry before attempting to start it.
