New Delhi. India’s air defense capabilities are constantly getting stronger, and in this episode the country has got an important technical achievement. The newly developed new VHF radar, which is now capable of identifying stealth fighter jets from 500 km. This state -of -the -art radar has been prepared by the Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE), which works under the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), in collaboration with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).

Example of technical self -sufficiency

This radar is a major step towards self -sufficiency in India’s defense sector. Earlier the technology which was dependent on foreign sources, has now been developed in the country itself and that too at such a state -of -the -art level that it equals the capabilities of a select countries of the world.

Stealth aircraft capable of identifying

In today’s air war strategies, fighter jets equipped with stealth technology, such as the US F-35, are considered a big challenge. These aircraft are usually out of the grip of high-frequency radar. But the new VHF radar of India, which works on the frequency of 30 to 300 MHz, is capable of catching these aircraft. Its long wavelength stealth affects the radar-ebbing material and design of the aircraft, making it possible to detect them.

Upgraded capacity -now 500 km range

The first range of this radar was 400 km, which has now been increased to 500 km. This means that any air platform of the enemy can be track and intercepted before entering our limits. This has brought a new height to India’s early warning and monitoring capacity.

Part of multi-level air defense system

This VHF radar will become an important part of India’s multi -level air defense system. It will be integrated with long-range surface to air missile (LR-SAM), medium-range missiles and other modern sensors. This will create a coordinated defense shield, which will not only be able to protect its borders, but will also achieve a strategic lead in the Asia-Pacific region.
