Raymond Cruz, famous for his role as drug lord Tuco Salamanca on Breaking Bad, was arrested on September 8 for suspected misdemeanor battery after allegedly spraying water on a woman. TMZ sources suggest that someone called the police claiming Cruz assaulted their daughter -- allegedly blasting her with a garden hose.
“There was basically a dispute with the victim, which is when Cruz allegedly sprayed water towards the victim,” an LAPD officer tells PEOPLE.
In such minor incidents, the LA City Attorney often defers prosecution and holds an office hearing, where the alleged offender is warned and sometimes asked to take anger management courses in exchange for dropping the charges.
The incident occurred when Cruz was washing his car in front of his home in the Silverlake area of Los Angeles, when three women in a white minivan parked inches away from his car, Cruz’s talent agent Raphael Berko told PEOPLE.
When asked by the 60-year-old actor to move their vehicle, the women declined. He also reportedly warned them about not giving him enough room and that it's going to get wet. The women then reportedly started filming him while he was washing his car.
“When he turned around to tell them to stop filming him, he was still hosing his car. And some of the water from his hose hit the front of his car and spilled on their car,” stated Berko.
Following the incident, the women were quick to call the police and Cruz, who starred in Closer and Major Crimes was arrested.
Cruz, who is grateful to the LAPD for treating him nicely, was released after 5 hours and is to appear in court on October 1.
Charges of misdemeanor battery against Cruz are yet to be filed.
