Nepal and India have been trading for many years. However ongoing unrest led by Gen Z protests in Nepal is raising concerns about disruptions to this critical economic relationship.
The demonstrations which began in opposition to a social media ban have since expanded to highlight issues like corruption unemployment and poor governance. It is also now resulting in political instability and the fall of the government. It can impact cross-border trade which could put Nepal’s economic “lifeline” from India in jeopardy.
