Dewald Bravis, a talented player of South African cricket, created history on 9 September 2025. He became the most expensive player in SA20 history. Pretoria Capitals bought him at a heavy price of 16.5 million rands (about $ 880,000) at 2025–26 SA20 auction in Johannesburg. Famous for his explosive batting, the 22 -year -old player left behind the previous record of 14 million rands of Aiden Markram in a tough dialect.

Bravis, popularly known as “Baby AB”, gave birth to a strict competition between Pretoria Capitals and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) associate franchise Gonburg Super Kings due to a “Baby AB” nickname “Baby AB”. His magnificent T20 figures of 2025 – 30 in innings an average of 43.26 and 995 runs at a strike rate of 186 – he made him the major target of the team. The 32.5 million rands of Pretoria enabled him to get the deal.

Prateria Capitals coach Sourav Ganguly praised Brevis, saying, “He is a tremendous talent and a game-changer for T20 cricket. His progress, especially against spin, is notable. We are thrilled to include him in the team.” Ganguly emphasized the suitability of Brevis for the circumstances of Pretoria and his ability with players such as Andre Russell and Sherfen Rutherford, and rejected the price pressure. He added, “Performance is not about money; he is a great talent.”

The involvement of Brevis has strengthened the Pretoria team as their goal is to perform brilliantly in the SA20 season 4 starting from 26 December 2025. His record-todd deal reflects his growing global stature, which came out after his brilliant performance in the SA20 2024 season with Mi Cape Town, where he scored 291 runs at an average of 48.5. Fans are eagerly waiting for his impact in the upcoming season.
