Pitru Paksha 2025: Lord Vishnu says that 'Yanti Devavrata Devan Pitrin Yanti Pitruvrata. Bhootani yanti bhutejya yanti madyajinopi maam.' That is, those who worship the gods, the deities, those who worship the ancestors, the ancestors, those who worship ghosts, the ghosts, and those who worship me, attain me only. Other ancestral worlds of the universe are also part and parcel of me. Therefore, I am the father who takes away the sins of all living beings. According to the Vedas, Narayana himself is the father. It gets in the form of air in the Serpent Yoni, in the form of meat in the Rakshasa Yoni, in the form of blood in the Pret Yoni, and in the form of sexual power, beautiful, tasty food, and immense wealth in the Human Yoni.

If your parents were born in the Human Yoni anywhere, then the Shraddha offered by you will keep on reaching them in the form of other physical Bhoga in this birth itself. These ancestors, being pleased, give you long life, sons, wealth, knowledge, heaven, salvation, happiness, and royal status.

Lord Ram had performed the shraddha tarpan of his father, Maharaj Dashrath, under the guidance of Guru Vashishtha. The scriptures have mentioned 96 days in a year for shraddha, in which the importance of Ashwin Krishna Paksha has been mentioned the most. Therefore, by performing shraddha karma, one can decorate one's destiny.
