Bollywood superstar and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai has taken legal action against multiple artificial intelligence (AI) platforms for misusing her images, voice, and identity without permission. Her petition, filed in the Delhi High Court, seeks to block the unauthorized use of her likeness in obscene videos, manipulated images, and fake content.
According to Indian media, Aishwarya Rai’s legal team submitted a joint plea against several AI platforms. The actress argued that her photos and voice are being illegally replicated and inserted into AI-generated videos and audios that are spreading inappropriate content online. She stressed that this misuse not only damages her reputation but also amounts to character assassination.
In her petition, Aishwarya Rai listed several fake websites operating under her name, alongside e-commerce platforms that allegedly exploit her identity to sell products without consent. She accused these platforms of commercially benefiting from her image and voice while tarnishing her credibility.
Interestingly, the actress has not demanded financial compensation at this stage. Instead, she requested the court to immediately restrain the platforms from using her name, images, and voice in any form without authorization. Her petition highlights the urgent need for stricter regulation of AI-generated content to safeguard public figures and ordinary citizens alike.
The Delhi High Court has issued notices to all respondents, directing them to present arguments by November. The case is expected to formally begin in January 2026.
Aishwarya Rai’s move follows a growing wave of similar lawsuits filed by other Bollywood actors who have also accused AI platforms of exploiting their digital identity without approval. The issue has sparked nationwide debate on the ethical boundaries of artificial intelligence and its potential misuse in the entertainment industry.
Legal experts believe this case could set an important precedent in India’s battle against AI-driven impersonation, identity theft, and digital defamation.
