New Delhi, September 10, 2025 – Vehicle owners in Delhi struggling with pending traffic challans have a big reason to breathe easy. The Delhi Traffic Police, in collaboration with the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA), is organizing a National Lok Adalat on September 13, 2025, offering citizens a hassle-free way to clear their old challans and notices.

This special initiative will allow vehicle owners to settle long-pending traffic fines without going through lengthy court procedures or paying heavy penalties. For thousands of Delhi motorists, this comes as a golden opportunity to resolve cases quickly and at reduced costs.

Where Will the Lok Adalat Be Held?

The hearing for traffic challan settlement will take place across seven major court complexes in Delhi:

  • Patiala House Court

  • Karkardooma Court

  • Rouse Avenue Court

  • Tis Hazari Court

  • Dwarka Court

  • Saket Court

  • Rohini Court

The sessions will be held between 10 AM and 4 PM on the same day. Vehicle owners can visit any of these designated complexes to clear their dues.

Documents You Must Carry

To participate in the Lok Adalat and settle your challans, you must carry three essential documents:

  • A copy of the challan or notice

  • Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC)

  • A valid ID proof of the vehicle owner

  • Without these, cases may not be processed.

    Online Preparation Made Easy

Ahead of the Lok Adalat, the Delhi Traffic Police has activated a facility on its official website — traffic.delhipolice.gov.in. Citizens can download their pending challans and notices directly from the portal.

However, there are limits in place. Each day, a maximum of 60,000 challans can be downloaded, and by September 13, a total of 1.8 lakh challans will be made available online for settlement.

    Previous Lok Adalat Success Stories

Lok Adalats for traffic challans have already proven successful in Delhi:

    • On March 8, 2025, as many as 1,53,437 challans worth nearly ₹405 crore were resolved.

    • On May 10, 2025, another Lok Adalat led to the settlement of fines worth ₹1.7 crore.

These results underline the effectiveness of Lok Adalats in reducing the burden on courts while providing quick relief to citizens.

    Limits on Challan Settlement

While the Lok Adalat is an excellent chance to clear dues, certain restrictions apply:

    • Private vehicles: Maximum of 7 pending challans or notices (5 notices + 2 challans).

    • Commercial vehicles: Up to 2 challans or notices per vehicle.

These limits ensure smooth processing and equal opportunity for all participants.

Why This Matters for Delhi Drivers

Normally, resolving a traffic challan requires multiple visits to court and, in some cases, hefty fines. The Lok Adalat eliminates these hurdles by providing:

    • Faster case resolution

    • Reduced penalties or exemptions in many cases

    • No long court delays

For many motorists, this is not just a relief but also a chance to start afresh without pending legal hassles.

    Bottom Line

If you have a pending challan in Delhi, September 13, 2025, could be your day of relief. Simply download your challans in advance, carry the required documents, and visit one of the designated court complexes. With the National Lok Adalat, clearing your traffic fines has never been easier or more convenient.
