Fitness Tips: Walking is beneficial for health, but walking in the wrong way can harm health. Know the drawbacks while walking and what is the right way.

Fitness Tips: Walking is an easy and natural exercise , which not only keeps the body active , but also helps in preventing many serious diseases . But often people make some mistakes while walking, due to which they are not able to get the full benefit of walking .

On this , Dr. Bimal Chhajed says that if you do not follow the correct method while walking , then it can also harm your health.

walking very slowly

Many people consider walking as just a leisurely stroll. But for fitness, it is important to keep speed in mind while walking . Walking too slowly does not burn calories and the heart and lungs do not get the benefit of exercise . According to health experts, while walking , your speed should be such that you can talk, but your breathing becomes slightly faster.

Tilted body position

Often people walk while looking at mobile or with their head down, which can increase the problem of back and neck pain . It is very important to keep the body straight while walking. Your eyes should be forward and shoulders relaxed . This position not only helps in proper oxygen flow , but also makes you look active and confident .

Wearing the wrong footwear

People often make the mistake of not wearing comfortable shoes . If you walk wearing high heels or hard- soled shoes , you may experience pain in your feet and heels . It would be better if you use lightweight and sports shoes with good grip. This will make walking fun and will not have any adverse effect on your health.

Walking on an empty stomach or after overeating

Some people wake up in the morning and go for a walk without eating anything , while others start walking immediately after eating. Neither situations are not right. Walking on an empty stomach drains energy quickly, and fatigue takes over. Walking after overeating makes the stomach feel heavy and can cause gastric problems.

Ignoring stretching

Stretching before and after walking is very important. It relaxes the muscles and reduces the risk of injury.  Walking without stretching can cause stiffness in the legs and muscle pain.
