Delhi High court Bomb Scare Today: The Delhi High Court received a bomb threat via e-mail on Friday, leading to adjournment of cases and evacuation of the premises. The letter warned of an afternoon blast inside the building. Delhi Police has stepped up precautionary measures as investigators probe the threat, according to sources cited by news agencies PTI, ANI.

The Delhi High Court received a bomb threat on Friday, triggering panic among litigants and judges, and forcing adjournment of cases listed for the day.

According to sources cited by PTI, the threat e-mail was received by the registrar general at around 8:39 am, warning of multiple blasts inside the court complex.

Judges were alerted mid-proceedings, with some leaving their courtrooms around 11:35 am while others continued until noon.


“We were asked by the security officials to vacate the court... The court proceedings have been stopped,” a lawyer told ANI.

Another lawyer quoted by PTI said, “During the court proceedings, the judges informed us that they had received a bomb threat via e-mail and hence we have evacuated. Now, the sanitisation process is underway and if everything remains fine, the court proceedings will resume at 2:30 pm. As of now, we are taking all precautionary measures.”

The e-mail reportedly stated: “As a sample, today’s blast in the Delhi High Court will clear the doubts of previous bluffs and judges’ chambers will detonate shortly after the mid-day Islamic prayers.”

It further claimed that three bombs had been placed in judges’ rooms and directed everyone to vacate the complex by 2 pm.

Police said they also received a PCR call about the threat in the morning.

“We are carrying out search operations. Fire officials along with the bomb disposal squad and dog squad are present at the spot,” a senior police officer confirmed.

The bomb disposal squad and fire department rushed to the site, security was beefed up, and all those present—including judges, lawyers, clerks and litigants—were asked to vacate the premises. Search and sanitisation operations are underway.
