Water Resources Minister Barinder Goyal termed this relief package as a “big joke”, while Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said – “After 30 days Modi ji remembered Punjab and put ₹ 1,600 crore and put cumin in the camel’s mouth.” Even BJP’s leader Ravneet Bittu admitted that Modi’s comment has insulted Punjabi language. Even though he later tried to clean up, the people of Punjab considered it a direct attack on their honor.

The AAP government has again demanded from the Center that a big relief package should be given to compensate for more than Rs 20,000 crore loss from the floods and the stopped funds of Punjab should be issued immediately. The Aam Aadmi Party government said that as Punjab has always been ahead from the freedom struggle to filling the grain store of the country, in the same way Punjab is still standing with its people.
