Thekua is a traditional sweet prepared from wheat flour, jaggery or sugar, coconut, and ghee, which is prepared by frying in oil. It tastes crispy and sweet, and is distributed as prasad after the fast. Thekua is not only delicious but it also has religious significance, as it is considered a symbol of a mother's affection and faith. Ingredients for making Thekua
Wheat flour
Semolina
Jaggery
Coconut powder
Fennel
Cardamom powder
Desi ghee
Oil
Method
To make Thekua, first heat the jaggery in water and melt it. It will melt completely; only then will you be able to knead the dough in it. So, after melting the jaggery first, put flour, semolina, coconut, fennel, and cardamom powder in a vessel.
After this, now add melted jaggery and some ghee to it. Now knead it well. When this dough is completely kneaded, keep it aside for a while to set. Now prepare small balls of it.
After this, give it the desired shape with the help of the Thekua mold. After preparing all the Thekua in this way, heat oil in a pan and put all of them to fry on medium flame.
Till it turns golden, filter it from the oil and keep it in tissue paper, so that its excess oil also comes out. After it cools down, serve it as bhog and prasad.
