Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar has started a new and special business with her sister review Pednekar. Both sisters have launched a new generation beverage brand named ‘Backbe’, which aims to give a new look to conscious and healthy hydration in India. The first product of this brand is ‘Backbey Aqua’, which is the natural mineral water that is out of the ancient foothills of the Himalayas. This water is famous for its purity and natural minerals like magnesium, calcium and potassium.
Bhoomi told in an interview, ‘Our own plant is in Himachal Pradesh. We have prepared it with our hard work and we are proud of it. The special thing is that women do the leadership of workforce here, so that we can also include values like gender equity in our brand. Our plant capacity is so much that we can prepare 45,000 boxes daily.
The ‘backbe aqua’ uses environment-friendly packaging rather than traditional plastic or glass bottles. This water is packed in light and fully recycled paperboard cartons. Bhumi told that his packaging was ‘Gable Top Paper Packaging’. It is said and its lids are also made of bio-cap. He proudly said that he is the only company to use such packaging in India.
Bhoomi and Review said that they are going to bring sparkling water in addition to water, which will have flavors like litchi, peach and lime. For now, they have two packaging size 500 ml and 750 ml. Prices of 500 ml: ₹ 150 and 750 ml price ₹ 200 land said that they have kept the price in such a way that it should be premium but still remain in the reach of people. For comparison, the price of plastic bottle water in the market goes up to ₹ 90 and the price of glass bottle is up to ₹ 600.
Bhumi says that she keeps a business target of Rs 100 crore in the next 4 years and after 15 years, her water reaches every house. Their water is ‘pack on source’ and it is not touched with human hands, which keeps its purity. Bhumi also said that Indian customers nowadays spend a large amount on energy drinks, so they want to give a product that is equally important, that is, clean and healthy water. Their focus is in places where people want to drink safe water- such as schools, colleges, corporate offices, cinema, airports and hotels.
Bhumi says, “When I see a child drinking water from a plastic bottle, I feel that I should say with a bottle, don’t do it.” She believes that when the option is present, plastic should not be used, because it often contains harmful chemicals. Bhumi revealed that he himself has invested money in his company. She told that she has been investing since the age of 17. He started saving and investment from his first salary ₹ 7,000 (who met Yash Raj Films). This understanding is helping them to create a business like backbe.
