Film stars are becoming cautious about this. Recently Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan had approached the Delhi High Court to protect their personality rights. Now film producer-director Karan Johar has knocked on the door of the Delhi High Court.
Why Karan Johar moved to the Delhi HC?
According to news agency PTI film producer Karan Johar has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court for the protection of personality rights. He has demanded that people stop illegally selling goods in his name. Karan Johar knocked on the door of the Delhi High Court on Monday and demanded protection of his identity and publicity rights.
Karan Johars plea seeking a ban on the sale of merchandise bearing his pictures and name came up for hearing before Justice Manmeet PS Arora who sought some clarifications from his lawyer and listed the matter for further proceedings at 4 pm. Apart from the protection of his personality and publicity rights Karan Johar has also requested the court to pass an order directing certain websites and platforms not to illegally sell items including mugs and T-shirts bearing his name and picture.
