Tyler Robinson's relationship with his trans roommate has come under the radar as the FBI investigates the possible motive behind the 22-year-old's action
The assassination of right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk took a U-turn after Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin is in a romantic relationship with a transgender lover. The 22-year-old suspect in the Kirk shooting, identified as Tyler Robinson, was arrested on Friday.

Since his arrest, reports have swirled that Robinson was in a relationship with his roommate Lance Twiggs. In an interview with CNN, Spencer Cox confirmed that Tyler Robinson's roommate was his 'romantic partner' and that it is being investigated as a possible motive into Kirk's death.

"Yes, definitely. And yes, I can confirm that. I know that has been reported and that the FBI has confirmed that as well, that the roommate was a romantic partner, a male transitioning to female," the governor said.

Governor Cox said the Tyler Robinson's relationship with his partner is currently being looked into as a possible motive. Kirk was known to share anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric.

'Saw them kissing'

Tyler Robinson's relationship with his trans roommate has come under the radar as the FBI investigates the possible motive behind the 22-year-old's action. While Robinson has not admitted to murder and is not cooperating with authorities, Cox told ABC News, on the other hand, law enforcement, have said that Robinson's "trans boyfriend" is cooperating with the investigation.

“The roommate was a romantic partner, a male transitioning to female,” Cox said. “I can say that he has been incredibly cooperative, this partner has been very cooperative, had no idea that this was happening.”

A young boy who lived in the same neighbourhood in Utah, where Robinson lived with his trans roommate, said that he saw Robinson and his partner and recalled that they resembled very much like a couple, according to The SUN. "He did have freckles on his face. He did have a weird haircut - It was kind of a mushroom-shaped one," the neighbor recalled when asked by the US Sun reporter.

"There's some published reports out there that this individual, the roommate, may have been transitioning. Did that correlate with what you saw?" the reporter asks the boy.

"Yeah, definitely," he says, saying the roommate was "getting ready" to transition and remembered them talking about a doctor's appointment regarding that. "It was about, about two weeks ago," he said.

"And they were kissing?" the reporter then asks. "Yeah," the boys says, adding, "I was riding with my bike, so I didn't see the whole thing."

What was Tyler Robinson's motive?

Authorities are now investigating that Charlie Kirk's views on gender identity were "hateful" to people like Robinson's transgender roommate, six sources familiar with the case tell Axios. Investigators believe Robinson's anger at Kirk's views could be a key to establishing a motive for killing Kirk, a close ally of President Donald Trump, whose death sent shockwaves through American politics.

The roommate was "aghast" at the slaying when speaking to investigators and shared electronic messages sent by Robinson, one of the sources told Axios. "That's what happened? Oh my God, no," the roommate said, according to the source. "Here are all the messages."

Family members have told reporters that Tyler Robinson had become "more political" in recent years, and had expressed interest in Kirk's visit to the Utah Valley campus in Orem, Utah.
