US Vice President JD Vance will host on Monday episode of "The Charlie Kirk Show" as a tribute to slain the MAGA activist who was a key ally and friend of Trump administration officials. The eponymous show will air at noon less than a week after Kirk was assassinated during a college campus visit in Utah.

Vance and Kirk were close friends for many years — long before the now-VP was even involved in politics. "Tomorrow, I will have the honor of hosting the Charlie Kirk Show," Vance wrote in a Sunday post. "Please join me as I pay tribute to my friend." He said the episode would air Monday at noon ET.

In a letter dedicated to Kirk that was shared after he was shot and killed at Utah Valley University, Vance reflected on their time together.

JD Vance and Charlie Kirk relationship

JD Vance noted that Kirk was one of the first people he reached out to when he decided to run for the US Senate in 2021, and that Kirk helped connect him with others who could help shape his campaign — including Donald Trump Jr.

He added that Kirk was one of his most dedicated advocates over the years, and even guided Trump’s VP selection until they landed on Vance. The vice president learned that Kirk had been shot via text during a meeting in the West Wing. Some of those messages were in groups where Kirk was included, and many were reaching out to let him know they were praying for him.

“God didn’t answer those prayers, and that’s OK. He had other plans. And now that Charlie is in heaven, I’ll ask him to talk to big man directly on behalf of his family, his friends, and the country he loved so dearly,” Vance wrote.

Vance accompanied Kirk’s body during the transport from Utah to his home state, Arizona.

Who will replace Charlie Kirk at the podcast?

Charlie's wife Erika had dropped a hint about the future of her late husband's podcast – The Charlie Kirk Show – when she addressed the public for the first time since his death. After the Trump ally was assassinated at an event in Utah Valley University, questions emerged about what the future holds, after he was slain.

"Where do we go from here? What happens next? Who is supposed to pick up the microphone?,” Turning Point USA contributor, Isabel Brown, had asked on X. Erika Kirk appeared to have cleared the air when making her remarks. Even before Erika went live, The Charlie Kirk Show dropped a new episode – their first since Kirk was killed.

Erika, when addressing the public, assured that the Charlie Kirk Show would continue. This is in line with her desire to keep Charlie Kirk's message alive. She said that her late husband's campus tour to US universities would continue, as would his podcast.

“He never gave up. One of his mottos was never surrender. So I want to tell that we will never surrender. The campus tour will continue. There will be even more tours in the years ahead to come,” she said.

Erika further said that Charlie's ideas would continue to spread. She stated, “in a world filled with chaos doubt and uncertainty, my husbands voice will remain.”

Towards the end of the speech, an emotional Erika promised to keep Charlie Kirk's legacy alive, saying “I promise I will never let your legacy die,” and vowed to make his movement the ‘biggest thing this nation has ever seen’.
