New Delhi: Gautam Adani-led Adani Enterprises Ltd has announced that the company received a Letter of Award from the National Highways Logistics Management Ltd. for building the ropeway project connecting Sonprayag with Kedarnath. According to the company the project will involve investment of Rs 4081 crore. Once completed the ropeway will reduce travel time to Kedarnath from an arduous 9-hour trek to just 36 minutes.

Adani Enterprises Ltd has announced that the company received a Letter of Award from the National Highways Logistics Management Ltd. for building the ropeway project connecting Sonprayag with Kedarnath.
Once completed the ropeway will reduce travel time to Kedarnath from an arduous 9-hour trek to just 36 minutes.
The project will be executed by AEL’s Roads Metro Rail and Water (RMRW) division.
The 12.9 km ropeway is part of the National Ropeways Development Programme – Parvatmala Pariyojana and will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The ropeway will have a carrying capacity of 1800 passengers per hour per direction serving lakhs of devotees each year.
Kedarnath attracts about 20 lakh pilgrims annually underlining the scale of the project.
The company said construction will take six years after which AEL will operate the ropeway for 29 years.
Along with improving connectivity the project is expected to generate employment and boost tourism in Uttarakhand.
