An order of the Supreme Court for the teachers of Basic Education Department has become a problem. It has now been made mandatory to pass the teacher eligibility test (TET), but in this way a lot of challenges have arisen in front of the teachers. Let’s know how this decision is hovering as a crisis on the jobs of teachers.
There are many educational qualifications among teachers working in council primary and upper primary schools of Basic Education Department. These include B.Ed., BPED, Intermediate Pass and BTC free teachers. The special thing is that around 90 percent of the teachers admitted to the deceased dependent quota around 1995 were only high school passes. The government considered these teachers qualified on the basis of their long experience and started giving trained pay scale by exempting BTC training.
In addition, in 1997, the government recruited intermediate pass and BTC trained teachers. At the same time, till 1999, B.Ed. and BPED degree holders were made teachers under specific BTC and made a teacher for six months. But now the order of the Supreme Court has created new difficulties in front of all these teachers.
According to the Supreme Court order, it is mandatory for all teachers to pass TET. But before that he will have to get the ability to sit in this exam, which has become a big headache in itself. High school pass teachers will have to first pass intermediate, then graduation and then BTC. This entire process can take about seven years.
At the same time, intermediate pass teachers will take at least five years to pass graduates and BTC. If a teacher has scored less than 45 per cent marks in graduation, then they will have to pass this exam again with more marks, which may take three to five years.
The biggest challenge before these teachers is time and age. Many teachers are now at the age where passing three to four difficult exams is no less than a war. After years, studying books and preparing for examinations has become a sweat to get rid of them. This order of the Supreme Court has not only brought a crisis on his job, but is also putting his hard work and experience in the dock.
