Bank Holiday: Many bank holidays are fixed in September 2025. Banks will not be closed everywhere on Vishwakarma Puja, but there is a holiday only in some states. According to the RBI list, branches will remain closed for many days this month, including festivals and weekends.

Bank Holiday: Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated with great pomp every year on 17 September in India. It is given great importance, especially in the states of East and North India. Lord Vishwakarma is considered to be the first craftsman of the universe, so on this day puja is organized in factories, machines, industrial units, and shops. But a big question remains in the minds of common people whether there will be a bank holiday on Vishwakarma Puja?

Will banks be closed all over India on 17 September?

According to the bank holiday list released by RBI (Reserve Bank of India), Vishwakarma Puja is not a national bank holiday for the whole of India. This holiday is valid only in select states. There may be a local holiday in many states and regions on September 17, but banks will not be closed in all states. Banks in metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru will remain open on September 17, normal work will be done.

What transactions can be done when banks are closed?

Branches remain closed during bank holidays or national holidays, but this does not mean that your banking work will stop completely. There are many services which are available 24×7.

Online and Mobile Banking: You can easily avail facilities like balance check, fund transfer, credit card bill payment, utility bill payment using your bank's internet banking or mobile app.
ATM Services: Money can be withdrawn from ATM when cash is needed. Most ATMs work normally even on holidays.
UPI and Digital Payments: Instant payment can be made through Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or the bank's own UPI app. There is no hassle in visiting shops, shopping online or sending money to friends and family.

Auto-debit/EMI payment: If you have set auto-debit for any service or EMI, it will be deducted automatically on the due date, even if the bank branches are closed.
