Robert Redford , the actor, director, and cultural icon, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 89. He reportedly died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Utah.

News of his demise was shared via a statement that read, "Robert Redford passed away in the mountains of Utah, the place he loved, surrounded by his loved ones. He will be missed deeply. The family requests privacy."
