The Great British Sewing Bee has officially announced its 2025 champion after a suspense-filled final.

The climax of the popular BBC series, which aired on Tuesday (September 16), saw pattern-enthusiast scientist Yasmin, two-time garment of the week victor Caz and 19 year old Orla compete in numerous tasks.

After three nail-biting challenges, presenter Sara Pascoe disclosed that Caz had clinched the series, having wowed judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant.

"I've gone and won something! I didn't think I'd be able to do it. I remember that very first catwalk, ringing my husband up and saying, 'I'm literally in awe of these people,'" Caz exclaimed.

"When I was a child, I loved sewing, and you have no fear as a child, you just sew anything. I think it's really important to get that fun back.", reports Wales Online.

"That's why most of us sew. We sew for the sheer joy and the love of it, and I've got a lot of love for it. It's brilliant, it's truly, truly brilliant."

Earlier in the episode, the finalists were tasked with creating a bias-cut dress with a cowl neck and spaghetti straps for the pattern challenge.

Orla came first after crafting a "close to perfectly sewn" garment, with Yasmin in second place and Caz in third.

The contestants then had to transform a selection of translucent tulle, organza and lace garments into something equally stylish.

This time, Caz secured first place with her black-stripe motif garment that utilised rubberised material. She was closely followed by Orla in silver medal position, while Yasmin claimed third place.

All three of the finalists were at a "level" standing going into the final challenge, with Patrick acknowledging that any of them could depart with the trophy.

For the made to measure task, the finalists wrestled with the art of trompe l'oeil, where they had to craft illusions with fabric to suit their chosen friend or family member.

Caz constructed a dress with an external ribcage and a heart as a tribute to the healthcare staff who cared for her when she underwent open heart surgery four years earlier.

Meanwhile, biologist Yasmin sought to depict the human body with a massive tulle structure that accentuated her partner Sophie's body shape.

Finally, Orla employed rainbow coloured pool floats to devise an illusion outfit that experimented with structure and colour to deceive the eye.
