A new Pakistani reality dating show titled ‘Lazawal Ishq’filmed in Turkey and set to air on YouTubehas stirred significant controversy even before its official release. Hosted by popular actress Ayesha Omarthe show has drawn comparisons to international dating shows like Love Islandsparking debate across social media platforms.

The show’s teasers showcased vibrant visuals and hinted at romantic pairings, leading many to believe it represents a bold, Western-style format not commonly seen in Pakistani media. While some viewers were intrigued, a large number expressed strong disapproval, calling it “against cultural and religious values.”

Prominent Islamic scholar King Zia Ul Haq has now publicly criticized the show. Known for inspiring youth through his religious sermons that promote living a balanced life within the teachings of Islam, Raja Zia did not hold back in his disapproval. In a video statement, he called for a complete halt to the show’s releasewarning against the promotion of what he described as “un-Islamic content.”

He urged young viewers to stay away from such programming, stating that dating shows go against the moral fabric of Pakistani society. According to him, airing such content is not only irresponsible but also a direct threat to the cultural and religious values of the nation.

The internet reaction has been swift. Many users have echoed Raja Zia’s concerns, with comments such as, “This should be banned in Pakistan,” and “Ayesha Omar should never have agreed to host this show.” Some even labeled the program as “Fahashi” (Obscenity) and demanded that authorities intervene to prevent its broadcast.

As the debate continues, ‘Lazawal Ishq’ has become one of the most talked-about upcoming shows in Pakistan—for both the right and wrong reasons.
