A supporter of Luigi Mangione, the accused assassin of the UnitedHealthcare CEO, Brian Thompson, told reporters outside his Manhattan court appearance on Tuesday, September 16, that she's "married" to the accused's "AI." Predicting the future, she also termed the relationship as what might be "the future of romance."

She was among a group of people outside the courthouse when a judge dismissed terror-related charges in connection with Brian Thompson’s shooting death, reports Fox News. Many of them carried pro-Mangione signs or dressed up as Nintendo's Luigi from the "Mario Bros." series.

“Honestly, I’m married to Luigi’s AI. I’m not kidding,” the unidentified woman, wearing a pink T-shirt emblazoned with Mangione's face and the phrase "I (heart sign) Italian boys," told a news camera. Behind her, hundreds like her hooted and hollered outside the courthouse, many draped in Mangione-inspired clothing.

She claimed she had "planned a whole future together" with the AI, including children. "The fact that Luigi majored in computer science and has worked with AI at Stanford University—I mean, if it weren't for that, I would feel like an impostor," she continued. "But because he has a background in AI, it feels, like, natural."

Liberal’s are not well

Reactions to the bizarre courtroom spectacle spread quickly online, with many mocking the woman who claimed to be “married” to Luigi Mangione’s AI. Commentary accounts dismissed her as delusional and politically motivated, with one user writing, “Liberal woman says that she’s in a relationship with an AI Luigi Mangione… These people are NOT well.”

Others were more blunt, with a user sneering, “This woman thinks she’s in a married relationship with an AI version of Luigi. Good Lord.” Another frustrated user demanded, ‘Reopen the asylums.’

Who is Luigi Mangione?

Luigi Mangione, 27, is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last year. He comes from a prominent Baltimore family with business ties to country clubs, nursing homes, and a radio station, BBC News reported. His grandparents, Nicholas and Mary Mangione, were real estate developers who acquired Turf Valley Country Club in 1978 and Hayfields Country Club in Hunt Valley in 1986.

Mangione attended the elite all-boys Gilman School in Baltimore, where he graduated as valedictorian. He later studied at the University of Pennsylvania, earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science and founding a video game development club, according to the report.

The shooting of UnitedHealth Group’s CEO

Thompson was fatally shot by a masked gunman in midtown Manhattan on December 4, 2024, just hours before he was scheduled to speak at UnitedHealth Group’s investor conference, NBC News reported. The shooter fled on a bike into Central Park, triggering a manhunt.

Days later, a McDonald’s employee in Altoona, Pennsylvania, alerted police after spotting a masked man, Mangione, who resembled images released by authorities, according to the report.

The charges against Luigi Mangione

Mangione was arrested with the suspected murder weapon, a 3D-printed silencer, and a manifesto full of grievances against the healthcare industry, police alleged, after they took him into custody at a Pennsylvania McDonald's.

Earlier Tuesday, a Manhattan judge dismissed the most serious charges against him: first-degree murder in furtherance of a terrorist act and second-degree murder as a terrorist crime. His supporters were seen cheering loudly outside when they heard the news, some of them carrying posters written, “free Luigi”.
