Itanagar gets new direct flight to Delhi

Synopsis

IndiGo launched a direct flight between Delhi and Itanagar, enhancing air connectivity to Arunachal Pradesh. The inaugural flight received a water cannon salute at Donyi Polo Airport. Operating on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, it complements existing services. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) marked 'Yatri Sewa Diwas' with cultural performances and a tree plantation drive.

IndiGo on Wednesday launched a direct flight between Delhi and Itanagar, boosting air connectivity to Arunachal Pradesh.

The inaugural service received a grand water cannon salute on arrival at the Donyi Polo Airport.

The new flight will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, in addition to the existing services on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, Airport Director P Narendra said.


As per the schedule, flight 6E 765 will depart Delhi at 9.40 am and reach Itanagar at 12:20 pm, while the return flight, 6E 766, will take off from Itanagar at 12.50 pm and arrive in Delhi at 3.45 pm.

State Civil Aviation Minister Balo Raja described it as a milestone for the state.

"A historic day for Arunachal Pradesh! The inaugural daily Itanagar-Delhi flight received a grand water-canon welcome on its arrival at Donyi Polo Airport today. Grateful to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the airline, and all stakeholders for making this much-awaited daily service a reality," he said in a social media post.

Meanwhile, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) observed 'Yatri Sewa Diwas' at the airport with a series of activities.

Arriving passengers on the new Delhi-Itanagar flight were welcomed with traditional tikka and folk-dance performances.

The programme also featured a tree plantation drive, attended by Education and Tourism Minister PD Sona, among others.
