Chendol, a popular dessert in Southeast Asia, is a sweet treat made with shaved ice, coconut milk, palm sugar syrup, pandan-scented rice flour jelly noodles (chendol), and stewed red beans, according to the Michelin Guide.
Nasi lemak derives its name from the Malay words for “rice” (nasi) and “creamy-rich” (lemak), referring to the coconut milk used to enrich the rice. A traditional serving includes fragrant rice, sambal belacan (spicy chili paste), fresh cucumber slices, toasted groundnuts, a boiled egg, and crispy ikan bilis (dried anchovies). Vendors may offer their own variations of the dish.
Yung, 45, is one of Hong Kong’s most celebrated artists, with a string of major awards in both singing and acting. In 2014, she was ranked 63rd on the Forbes China Celebrity 100 list, making her the most influential Hong Kong-based female singer of the year.
