Recently, a Special Intensive Revision process was carried out in Bihar, which involved a major update of the voter list and re-verification of many names. Following the same model, preparations for SIR have begun in Delhi as well.

The SIR process in Delhi is now in active mode. The Chief Electoral Officer's team has begun ground-level preparations. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been deployed in all 70 assembly constituencies. Training is being provided to the concerned officials to ensure smooth on-ground verification.

This time, the 2002 voter list has been used as the reference base. The 2002 list is available online so people can match their names with their parents'. When the Block Development Officer (BDO) visits their home, they will have them fill out a simple form. If your name appears in both the 2002 and 2025 lists, you will need to provide the 2002 entry along with the form. No additional documentation is required. Where your name is missing from the 2002 list, you can prove the connection by providing your parents' 2002 entry along with your basic ID.

The Election Commission has also mapped the old 2002 assembly constituencies to the current constituencies on its website. The document flow has been simplified to keep the process user-friendly. Block Development Officers (BDOs) will go door-to-door to collect the required details and collect the forms.

This will save people from having to run around offices. Everyone from the District Election Officer to the Registration Officer and Block Development Officers (BLOs) is being properly trained to ensure tight timelines. The Commission states that the goal is to add valid voters and remove incorrect or duplicate names.

Delhi has over 15.5 million registered voters, including all categories of male, female, and transgender. Once the SIR process begins, camps, door-to-door checks, and record matching will be accelerated, making it faster to add, correct, and remove incorrect entries.
