New Delhi. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched affordable prepaid plans for its customers. This new plan of the government telecom company will be available at a price of only ₹ 199.

According to the official website of BSNL, the validity of this plan is 28 days. In this, users will get 2GB internet data every day. Even after the daily data limit is over, customers will be able to use the Internet at 40kbps speed. Apart from this, unlimited free calling and 100 SMS facilities are also included daily.

BSNL’s plan cheaper, but limited to 4G data
Currently, private telecom companies like Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idia (VI) are not offering 2GB daily data plans for less than Rs 200. However, BSNL is still providing 4G data, while private companies are offering 5G data.

The prepaid plan with 2GB daily data of Jio is priced at ₹ 349, with 28 days validity, unlimited calling, 100 SMS and JioTV subscription. Airtel is also available for a prepaid plan of ₹ 349, with 2GB daily 5G data, unlimited calling, 100 SMS with Apple Music for 6 months and access of more than 20 OTT platforms. At the same time, VI’s 2GB daily data plan is ₹ 408, which includes 64KBPS speed when the data is finished and unlimited calling with 28 days validity, 100 SMS and Sony Liv subscription.

Constant decline in BSNL customers
According to the July 2025 data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), BSNL and MTNL are constantly losing subscribers. In July, BSNL’s 1.01 lakh and MTNL also reduced many customers. Now the market share of these two government companies has come down to less than 8%.

At the same time, Jio has added the highest 4.83 lakh new customers in July 2025. Airtel added 4.64 lakh new users, while Vodafone-Idea (VI) has reduced 3.59 lakh subscribers.
